Location and Directions

Below the map there are detailed directions whether you are driving, cycling or walking (from the East or West).

 

DIRECTIONS to Copper Beeches, Torberry Farm, Hurst, Nr. Petersfield, Hampshire GU31 5RG

 

From the A.3. (South Bound)

Take the first exit off for Petersfield / A272 Midhurst, at the roundabout turn left for he A272 / Uppark (brown tourist sign for N.T.House), at the staggered crossroads, turn right for South Harting and Uppark, follow this road to its conclusion, T. junction, turn left onto the B2146 for South Harting and Uppark.  Over the Hampshire/West Sussex Border, past the turning on your right for Dicham Park School and The Tithe Barn.  Copper Beeches is the next property on your left with a green and white 'B & B' displayd, our drive is off 'Alitex's' entrance.

 

From the A.3. (North Bound)

Take the first exit off for Petersfild / Buriton, at the roundabout turn left for Petersfield Town Centre, when you arrive at the mini roundabout at Tesco's entrance, go straight over, immediately you will come to a crossroads, turn right onto the B2146 for South Harting and Uppark.  Go past Petersfield Heath Pond on your left, then follow the directions as above.

 

From Winchester (A272)

After Winchester continue along the A272 until you come to Petersfield, you will turn onto the A.3 for one junction, turning off for Midhurst A272, then follow the directions for the A.3. South Bound, as above.

 

From Midhurst (A272)

After Midhurst turn left for Elstead / South Harting, go through the Village of Elstead, as you come into the Village of South Harting, you will see The Ship  (no longer a public house) on your right, turn right immediately after The Ship onto the B2146 for Petersfield, you will see Copper Beeches about 1 mile on your right, there are four houses of which we are the last, a green and white 'B & B' board is displayed.

 

From Chichester

Take the A286 for Midhurst, after the Village of Lavant, turn left onto the B2141 for South Harting, follow this road to its conclusion, turn right onto the B2146, into the Village of South Harting, turning left, in front of The Ship Inn for Petersfield.  Follow the directions as above from Midhurst.

 

Walkers and Cyclists on the South Downs Way from the WEST

Just having passed Sunwood Farm (the name plate is missing) and then Sunwood House, instead of taking the track on your right continue down the tarmac road until you come to the B2146 (about ½ mile), turn right, Copper Beeches is the next property on your left.

Walkers ONLY on the South Downs Way from the WEST

After passing Sunwood Farm (name plate is missing) and then Sunwood House, continue along the track which is the South Downs Way, take the next public footpath on your left, (the sign post has recently been replaced on the right hand side opposite the field) through the open gateway, along the edge of the field, the stile is overgrown with wild clematis/brambles/nettles etc., if you look closely you will see the footpath yellow disc, through the wire of the fence that has been cut (it is a little overgrown at this point but only for a couple of yards) and into the woods, follow the path until you reach the field at the bottom, stay in this field keeping to the headland, down to the bottom of the field and Copper Beeches is opposite the track, you will see our Solar Panels. 

 

Cyclists on the South Downs Way from the EAST

Having reached Harting Down, where you look down on the Village of South Harting and the wonderful Copper Spire of the Church, do not go down into the Village but continue on the South Downs Way for about another mile, until you come to a single track tarmac private road (the Sussex Border Path) by a house called Downs View, turn right down the tarmac lane until you reach the B2146, turn left, Copper Beeches is the fourth house on your right.

 

Walkers on the South Downs Way from the EAST

As above but instead of going down the tarmac lane, continue on the SDW for a few yards, taking the next public footpath on your right, (the sign post has recently been replaced and is on your left) through the open gateway, along the edge of the field  ......  (as for the walkers from the West)
